  • An EFW between the 3rd and 10th centile, on a customised chart adjusted for constitutional variation, is also associated with increased risk of adverse perinatal outcome if the pregnancy continues to term. 
  • Concern about early term delivery because of an association with special educational needs (SEN) in infancy and childhood 22 needs to be balanced by the significantly increased cerebral palsy risk in SGA babies delivered at term 23.
  • Furthermore, their risk of stillbirth is also increased; the majority of deaths prevented since the introduction of GAP had late onset FGR in the 3rd to 10th centile band 24.
